My name is Renata and I am a yoga trauma informed yoga teacher certified trhough Yoga Alliance to work with children, youth and adults. Renata Couri
I began my yoga journey over 20 years ago back in my birth city, Rio, Brazil when I was introduced to an ancient type of yoga where mantra, mudras , breathwork and asanas were all integrated into practice and it has , since, been the foundation of both my personal and teaching practices. Since then I've been passionate about sharing the healing gift of yoga with everyone, and that's why I started serving as a volunteer at Echo Glenn Children's Center in 2017. I've been teaching yoga to the maximum security unity residents, I call them my ”yoga ohmies” . Once a week we practice asanas, mantras and breath work followed by sound bath meditation. I'm also honored to teach yoga for seniors. Witnessing their transformational journey is such an honor and inspired me to become a Yoga Therapist that's when in 2020, Cura Vida was born. Cura Vida means " healing life" in Portuguese, the name was "given" to me when one of my students described yoga as "it heals life". I’m certified in sound bath facilitation, trauma informed teaching as well as yoga teacher and children and youth yoga teacher through yoga alliance. I’m also a yoga therapist.
I offer group and private sessions. asana practice is based on somatic awareness as a tool to " inscape"; reconnecting with the sensations and movements of the body. Sound and vibration are part of every class I teach, they are one of the safest ways to quiet the mind and body, welcoming stillness, it is then that the benefits of yoga practice can reach a much deeper level. My hope is to share the healing gift of yoga practice with anyone willing to dive into this experience . It will be my honor to guide you, if you choose to join me.
When I'm not teaching yoga I enjoy spending time with my husband, children and 2 dogs, specially at the beach!
